This Privacy Policy explains how Aristocoded LLC ("Aristocoded," "we," "us," or "our") handles information for Soundproof, the Soundproof website, and related support.

The short version Soundproof cleans audio and video locally on your Mac. We do not run an audio-processing cloud, and we do not upload your recordings to Soundproof servers. Limited information may be processed for purchases, license activation, support, website analytics, and normal website hosting.

1. Who we are

Soundproof is operated by Aristocoded LLC. Questions about privacy or data requests can be sent to [email protected].

2. Recordings and local files

Soundproof processes the audio and video files you choose on your Mac. Your source recordings, previews, temporary processing files, and exported cleaned files are stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them yourself.

We do not receive your recordings for noise cleanup.
We do not use your recordings to train models.
We do not inspect the contents of your recordings.
If you email us a recording for support, that file is no longer local-only; only send samples you are comfortable sharing.

3. Information processed for purchases and activation

Soundproof can be downloaded and tested without creating an account. If you buy or activate Soundproof, purchase and entitlement checks may be handled by third-party providers. The planned entitlement provider is RevenueCat; checkout may be fulfilled by a merchant-of-record or payment provider configured at launch.

These providers may process information needed to complete the purchase and verify access, such as transaction identifiers, receipts, license status, app version, platform, country or region, device/app identifiers, and your email address if you provide it during checkout. We do not receive or store your full credit card number.

RevenueCat describes the end-user transaction and technical information it may process in its privacy policy. Payment providers such as Paddle or Stripe maintain their own privacy and retention practices for billing, fraud prevention, tax, and legal compliance.

4. Website information

When you visit soundproofmac.com, our hosting provider may process standard server log information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp to deliver and secure the website.

If website analytics are enabled, we will use a privacy-friendly analytics provider such as Plausible or Fathom to understand aggregate visits, downloads, and purchases. We will not use website analytics to inspect recordings, and we do not intend to use Google Analytics, ad tracking pixels, or cross-site advertising profiles for Soundproof.

5. Support email

If you contact support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, including any attachments you choose to send. We use support messages to answer questions, troubleshoot issues, process refunds where applicable, and improve Soundproof.

6. In-app analytics and crash reports

Soundproof is intended to launch without in-app usage analytics. If we add optional app analytics or automatic crash reporting later, we will update this policy and describe what is collected, how to opt out where applicable, and which provider processes it.

7. How we use information

To provide the website and app download.
To process purchases, activate licenses, restore purchases, and prevent fraud or abuse.
To answer support requests and process refund requests.
To understand aggregate website performance and conversion if privacy-friendly analytics are enabled.
To comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, and dispute-resolution obligations.

8. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for third-party advertising. We share limited information only with service providers that help us operate Soundproof, such as hosting, payment, entitlement, email, analytics, and support providers, or when required by law.

9. Retention and deletion

Because recordings and app files are local, deleting them is under your control: delete exported files in Finder, remove source files where you store them, or uninstall Soundproof to remove app-local data.

Support messages are retained as long as needed to help you and maintain business records. Purchase, refund, tax, and fraud-prevention records may be retained by payment and entitlement providers according to their legal obligations. Website analytics, if enabled, are retained according to the analytics provider's configured retention settings.

To request deletion of support emails or information we can reasonably control, email [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion request." We will respond within 30 days where required and where we can verify and act on the request. Some records may need to be retained for legal, tax, security, refund, or dispute reasons.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. Because Soundproof's core recording data stays on your Mac, you can exercise most control directly on your device. For information held by us or our providers, contact [email protected].

11. Children

Soundproof is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. International users

Aristocoded LLC is based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. By using Soundproof or the website, you understand that limited information described in this policy may be processed outside your country of residence.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate for a small local-first Mac app, including keeping recordings local by design and using HTTPS for website and purchase-related communication. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but Soundproof's design avoids creating a central store of your recordings.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice on the website or in the app.
