Does anything get uploaded?
No. Soundproof cleans audio on your Mac with an on-device AI model. Your recordings are never uploaded — no cloud, no server, no account. It works with Wi-Fi off. A purchase is verified online once when you activate; after that, your recordings stay local. More on removing noise without uploading.
What kinds of noise does it remove?
Steady background noise behind a voice: fans, laptops and air conditioning, mains hum, hiss, and constant room tone. It's built for spoken-word recordings — voice memos, interviews, podcasts, lectures and calls.
Does it remove echo or reverb?
Soundproof is not a dedicated de-reverb tool. It may make an echoey recording easier to listen to if there is steady noise underneath, but room echo and reverb can still be audible after cleanup.
Will it remove other people talking in the background?
Results vary. Café crowds, chatter and other voices are harder than steady tonal noise, so background speech may remain. Soundproof is most reliable on constant noise like fan, hum and hiss. See the published numbers, or what noise can and can't be removed.
