SECURITY & DATA FLOW
What stays on your Mac—and what does not.
Soundproof avoids creating a central store of your recordings. This page documents the boundary between local recording cleanup and the limited online services used for the website, purchases and support.
QUICK ANSWERS
The security model at a glance.
Recording processing
On-device. Soundproof does not receive the recording to remove noise.
Recording storage
Local files chosen and managed by the user. Soundproof does not provide cloud storage.
Model training
Recordings processed in Soundproof are not received or used to train models.
In-app analytics
The launch design does not include in-app usage analytics or automatic crash reporting.
Purchase verification
Separate entitlement traffic may include transaction, app, platform and license identifiers—not the recording.
Support files
Only received if a user deliberately attaches a file to an email. Do not send sensitive recordings.
DETAILED NOTES
1. Files and local processing
Soundproof processes audio and video files the user selects. Source recordings, previews, temporary processing files and exported cleaned files remain on the Mac unless the user chooses to move or share them.
Cleanup is performed with a model bundled in the application. It does not require an upload or an audio-processing account, and the cleanup engine works offline.
2. Original-file handling
Soundproof exports a separately named cleaned file. It does not intentionally overwrite the source recording. Users working with evidentiary, regulated or archival material should retain the original and follow their organization's policy for derivative files.
3. Purchase and entitlement traffic
The app can be downloaded and tested without creating an account. Buying, activating or restoring a license may contact RevenueCat, Stripe or Apple, depending on the distribution channel.
Those providers may process purchase and entitlement information such as transaction identifiers, receipts, license status, app version, platform, country or region, app/device identifiers, and an email address supplied during checkout. The audio or video recording is not included in an entitlement check.
4. Website and analytics
The hosting provider may process ordinary server logs such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, referrer and timestamp. If website analytics are enabled, Soundproof intends to use aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics rather than advertising pixels or cross-site profiles.
5. Support
Email support receives the sender's address, message and any attachment the sender chooses to include. Attaching a recording makes that copy no longer local-only. Use a synthetic or non-sensitive sample whenever possible.
6. Application distribution
The direct Mac release is Developer ID signed, notarized by Apple and distributed with the macOS hardened runtime. Signing and notarization help macOS verify the publisher and scan the distributed build; they do not replace an organization's device security controls.
7. Customer responsibilities
Soundproof's local design reduces one category of third-party exposure. Customers remain responsible for Mac account access, disk encryption, backups, consent, retention, sharing, malware protection, physical security and any legal or regulatory obligations that apply to their recordings.
8. Compliance language
Soundproof does not claim that the product alone makes a workflow HIPAA, GDPR or otherwise compliant. Organizations can use the information on this page when evaluating the app within their own risk assessment.
9. Changes and questions
This page describes the release architecture and will be updated if recording handling, analytics or service providers change. Last reviewed August 4, 2026.
